GigaTrust Tip - Customizing Your Default Protection Options

Out-of-the-box default protection permissions are View Only and Allow off-line viewing for all of the recipients. Every time you email someone, these permissions are automatically assigned to the email. If you find that you often assign a different set of permissions or want to define specific permissions per recipient, you may want to design a policy template to act as your default protection scheme.

Create a template using the All option for the user email address, or specify users or distribution lists, as appropriate for your needs. Assign the permissions you want the specified groups or users to have. (Refer to the online help for complete information on creating a template.)

Then, on the Options tab in GigaTrust Preferences, specify that template as your default template. (See Figure 1.) When a default template is defined, it is automatically applied when you choose to protect an email or file. You always have the option to deselect it and assign dynamic protection permissions or a different template.
