GigaTrust Tip - Protecting Files in Office 2003 Format
Using GigaTrust you can protect documents in Office 2003 format even if you are not running Office 2003. Protecting files in Office 2003 format provides recipients with Office 2003 with the best possible user experience.
By default, GigaTrust protects Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files in two formats: Office 2003 and protected html for the Internet Explorer (see chart below). Other files are converted to protected html or a GigaTrust viewer format depending upon the file type.
Recipients with Office 2003 can open the content using their native Word, Excel, or PowerPoint programs, while Office 2000 and XP users can open the content using the GigaTrust add-on for Internet Explorer.

You can modify the option for protecting .doc, .xls, .ppt, and .pps files in the GigaTrust Advanced options. Choosing only one format reduces the file size of the protected Office document.
To change the option, select More > Advanced on the GigaTrust toolbar. On the Advanced window (shown below), select the option you want to use for the current protection process.
The changes that you make apply to the current email. Whatever is the default option will be restored when you send another email.
A default option can be defined via GigaTrust Preferences.
